PE and Sports Premium

Believe in more – Enrichment. Passion. Development

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Schools are required to publish details of how our PE and Sport Premium funding is invested.

What is the Primary PE and Sport Premium?

The government provides funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school.

How will we invest this at Allerton CE Primary School?
At Allerton CE Primary, we have sought to develop PE and Sports over time, having employed a specialist PE coach prior to the PE and Sports Premium grant.

In 2018-19 our partnership began with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, working with a PE specialist one day per week.

We employ a specialist coach every day, who delivers some of our PE lessons across school, lunchtime sports and after school PE sessions. Alongside that coach, we have a PE teacher who works across school for 2 days and a further coach who works at lunchtimes and some targetted work in the afternoons.

In total we spend over and above the Government PE and Sports Premium funding each year.

This has enabled up to build capacity and maximise the long term impact of our PE provision for pupils and staff.

We have seen an increase in individual in school engagement, participation and delighted to see this convert to competition success. Post Covid lockdowns, we are seeing this increase and are pleased to be able to offer such a range of active engagement opportunities to our pupils.

Swimming

Our offer for learning to swim is truly tailored to the individual pupil, with pupils being taught in small groups. Qualified swimming teachers are in the pool, with small groups of ability grouped pupils. Progress and feedback is always amazing.

Swimming is intensively taught in blocks, as weekly sessions did not show enough progress for our pupils. Current lessons are for Year 3.

Due to COVID pool closures, our current Year 6 cohort have not been able to access swimming lessons due to a backlog of bookings. Next year, Year 5 & Year 6 will receive additional lessons now that pool availabilty is back to capacity.

In 2018-19 we achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award
