  • Update regarding our Operational Guidance from 19th July 2021

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

Following the prime minister’s announcement on Monday about the lifting of restrictions from July 19th 2021, the Department for Education has published operational guidance for schools.

Our term is due to end on Friday 23rd July 2021 and we will keep everything as it is now, for that final week.

Our hygiene systems will stay the same.  We will ensure pupils clean their hands regularly and we will maintain our cleaning schedule and keep classrooms well ventilated.

There has been a really significant rise in cases, not only in our school, local area and Leeds but also nationally. You will be aware of this from our own school updates and local What’s app groups, news updates.

If anyone in school develops Covid-19 symptoms we will send them home, as advised by the Government.

From August 16th 2021, children under the age of 18 will not need to self-isolate when informed they are a close contact of a positive case. Instead, they will be advised to take a PCR test.

The Local Authority have advised us that Outbreak Management Plans should cover the possibility that bubbles may need to be re-introduced for a temporary period in local areas.

We are working on our September plans, which we will share with you before the end of term.

One point to note is that Schools have been advised that we should maintain our capacity to deliver high quality remote education for the next year.

  • Whole School Spelling Bee

    Fri 07 May 2021

This week we celebrated the first whole-school Allerton Spelling Bee in our school hall. Adults of the finalists were able to join us on Google Meet as well as the children’s classes. Mr Dyal our Chair of Governors also came along to support the children. Everyone performed their spellings with confidence and real thought and care. The children used a whole range of spelling strategies when they tried out their words.

Our amazing winners were Ayesha and Andrew, both, from 3HL. This morning they visited our sponsors ‘The Little Bookshop’ in Chapel Allerton to choose a book each.
