• Mantra Lingua Free Home Language eBooks

  Dual language online storybooks available free until 31st August 2020

  Mantra Lingua publishers are trying to help households where the Home Language is not English.
  
  They have one of the largest dual language eBook libraries in the world. Currently, there are over 550 books in 38 languages, covering reading ages from 3 to 15 years. Each book is
  read aloud in English and the child’s Home Language. There are folk tales, myths, stories of multi-cultural life here in the UK and reference books.
  
  Each book has a video and a set of activities to help build English language skills, which families can access and enjoy.

   

  Mantra Lingua would like to offer this library free of charge to all households.

• Year 6 Residential Trip 2023 How Stean Gorge

  We had a lovely message from the group at How Stean Gorge earlier this week

  Good afternoon,

   

  We started our day bright and early with breakfast in the cafe. Although breakfast wasn't till 8:45, most children were awake by 6am. Children had the option of bacon or egg sandwiches and cereal too. The cafe has a glass floor which looks down into the gorge - the children are fascinated!

   

  After breakfast, we split into four groups and started our activities. Two groups did caving, one group completed the Via Feratta course while the fourth group did gorge walking.

   

  We are now ready to rotate and start our second activity of the day followed by spaghetti bolognese for tea and a campfire this evening.

   

  

• Maths Challenge Day

  The Grammar School at Leeds will be hosting its Maths Challenge Day for year 5 pupils on Monday 19 June 9:30-12:30. They have invited a team of four of our keenest mathematicians in year 5, accompanied by one of our teachers, to join them in a fun and challenging morning of mental arithmetic, cryptography, problem solving and teamwork. The day is run by our senior school maths teachers, led by Mr Ed Chappelow.
