Music

At Allerton C of E Primary School, music is an important ingredient in the children’s education.  Music is a unique and powerful form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. It combines creativity with emotion, enabling, personal expression, reflection and development.  Our children are able to develop skills in listening, composition and performance. Music also plays a great part in our collective worship. Our children are given the chance to perform in concerts, plays, carol services, and class assemblies. We aim to give every child the opportunity to participate in a structured scheme of musical experience and develop at their own pace, no matter what their age or ability in order to give each individual child a sense of personal achievement thus developing confidence and a sense of community.

We employ music specialists to deliver Steel Pan teaching to Year 4 and Curriculum teaching to classes in Key Stage 2, whilst developing teachers own skills.

Music Development Plan

At Allerton C of E Primary School, the Arts are at the heart of our commitment to providing a rich, inclusive and holistic education.  We believe that music plays a key role in nurturing creativity, confidence and emotional expression in our pupils.  This music development plan outlines our broad and engaging music provision, which, alongside our teaching of the National Curriculum, enhances wider learning, promotes well-being and strengthens a sense of community through shared musical experiences.
