Love Learn Flourish

Food at ACE

We are a nut free school. No nuts are allowed in school, due to the number of severe nut allergies amongst pupils and staff. This can be life threatening so check labels please.

Some pupils/staff have a citrus allergy, specifically oranges. Please do not bring unless on a school trip where you have been informed that there is no-one with that allergy on the trip.

School Dinners

Our healthy school meals are prepared on site by our team from Catering Leeds, using fresh local ingredients.

Menus are designed to provide balanced, healthy and delicious choices for your child and are regularly revised to make the most of seasonal and local produce.

Eating a school meal encourages children to develop healthy eating habits for life and allows children to eat in a sociable dining room with their peers. The children have the opportunity to try new foods across the year in a supportive environment.

We are proud that our school meals meet the Bronze standards for Food for Life.

Dinner Menu

Our choices are based on a 3 week rolling menu. Parents make their choices online with their child using an online Forms that is sent out by the office ahead of the menu startingChoices are then fixed for the for the life of the menu.

The cost of a dinner is £2.90 for per child per day. This is paid for on School Grid which is used for payments ONLY.

All children are served Family Service style at tables and encouraged to try new foods and make healthy choices.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 all receive the Government Universal Infant Free School Meal offer. All children are expected to take up this offer unless there is a medical reason which is agreed with a SENDCo in advance.

Children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 are encouraged to eat a school meal. They also have the option of bringing a packed lunch.

Packed Lunches

Children who choose to bring packed lunches are asked to follow our Healthy Schools guidance.

No nuts or oranges are allowed in school, due to the number of severe nut/orange allergies amongst pupils and staff.

We have invested in a heated Outdoor Classroom which is used for many activities including where some of our children have their lunches.  This is carefully monitored and only used when it is a suitable temperature.

We also have many picnic benches around the school and in the warmer weather, the children have the option to picnic outside, which they particularly enjoy.

Free School Meals

It is important that parents and carers of pupils who are entitled to free school meals, and those whose financial circumstances change, apply for Free School Meals.

This can save parents approximately £550 a year, per child and also affects the amounting of funding our school receives.

Parents and carers who think that their child may be entitled to Free School Meals can apply at the link below:
